3/4″ carbide-piston metering unit for NOB17-35
Manual metering unit
Operating your blaster safely
The different types of NORBLAST® abrasive metering units
Abrasive metering units let you precisely control the quantity of abrasive projected at the nozzle. By adjusting the flow optimally, they guarantee efficient use of the abrasive, ensure an even finish and limit waste, thereby increasing the durability of the equipment and the quality of the work done.
Manual metering units
Advantages
Simple, economical solution.
Let you adjust the abrasive flow delivered to the nozzle.
How it works
With the tank under pressure, the abrasive flows naturally through the metering unit. When the handle is released and the equipment depressurises, the abrasive keeps flowing by gravity until the collection T at the metering unit outlet is saturated.
Piloted metering units
Advantages
The metering unit closes automatically when the control handle is released.
Optimises abrasive consumption.
How it works
With the tank under pressure, the abrasive flows naturally through the metering unit. When the handle is released and the equipment depressurises, the flow stops automatically. It resumes as soon as pressure is restored by activating the handle. Constant flow, steady stream at the nozzle.
Optimise your setting for maximum output and controlled consumption
Precise adjustment of the metering unit opening is crucial for optimal output. Refer to this curve to reach the best balance between output and consumption.
Metering unit opening settings
RED ZONE (metering unit closed): flow too low. Consequences: inefficient work.
ORANGE ZONE (insufficient abrasive): limited flow Consequences: reduced performance.
GREEN ZONE (ideal setting): perfectly adjusted flow. Consequences: controlled consumption and maximum efficiency.
ORANGE ZONE (excessive abrasive): flow too high. Consequences: loss of performance and overconsumption.
RED ZONE (metering unit fully open): excessive flow. Consequences: clogged hose, no output.
How to choose your metering unit?
Ask yourself the right questions:
Which abrasive? Fine = precise adjustment essential.
Frequency of use? Intensive = favour a carbide-piston or rubber-sleeve metering unit.
Environment? Damp or corrosive = choose a rubber-sleeve model.
Ease of use? Wheel, lever… according to your preferences.
Maintenance? Favour quick, easy disassembly.
