The different types of NORBLAST® remote controls
What is a remote control for?
The remote-control system lets the operator start or stop the abrasive projection directly from their position, in complete safety. The remote-control block is fixed directly on the blaster and always fitted with a silencer. This device is mandatory under current labour legislation and is designed to protect the operator from accidents.
What does a remote-control system consist of?
A control block
It opens/closes the intake and exhaust air. It has a built-in silencer to reduce noise.
A control hose
It links the control block to the blaster and transmits the open/close commands.
A control handle
Located near the nozzle, the so-called “dead man’s” control handle lets the operator control the abrasive projection.
How does it work?
The remote-control system acts as a safety switch placed in the operator’s hands. As long as the handle is held down, the machine is under pressure and blasting is active. As soon as the handle is released, the circuit shuts off automatically: the air supply is cut, the exhaust opens, and the tank depressurises. This lets the projection be stopped at the nozzle without outside help, without having to go back to the machine. The remote-control system comes in two formats to suit all environments: one-piece, for an all-in-one solution, or separate, for more flexibility.
